Two Florida Schools Named Finalists in One Category for 2024 National “Building Hope” Awards 

Both Schools are Members of the Florida Consortium of Public Charter Schools (FCPCS) 

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., (March 29, 2024) – Two member schools of the Florida Consortium of Public Charter Schools (FCPCS) have been named finalists in one category for the 2024 national  “Building Hope” Awards. 

HIVE Preparatory School of Hialeah, Fla., and River Science Academy of Jacksonville, Fla., are two of the three finalists for the Joseph Bruno Charter Leadership Award, one of five categories of Building Hope Awards.  The Joseph Bruno Charter Leadership Award is for “charter schools and small charter networks that have perfected their model and demonstrated long-term impact on their students and communities.  These schools feature impressive track records in educational performance and family engagement.” 

The schools may be honored with the Joseph Bruno Charter Leadership Award and may receive one $20,000 grant or one of two $10,000 grants.   Five semi-finalists were originally selected for the Building Hope Awards from more than 200 applications from charter schools throughout the nation.  The list of five semi-finalists has been narrowed to three finalists for the prestigious award. 

Building Hope is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to increasing educational opportunities for K-12 students through its expertise in real estate, finance and operational services. 

Other categories for 2024 Building Hope Awards include Student Empowerment Grant Awards, Community Engagement Grant Awards and Education Innovation Grant Awards.

In 2023, Galileo School for Gifted Learning of Sanford, Fla., won a national Building Hope Award as one of 12 “inspirational charter schools” across America.  The Sanford, Fla., school is also a member of the Florida Consortium of Public Charter Schools (FCPCS).
